NEW HOPE DRAGSTRIP TRACK RULES
A VIOLATION OF RULES WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION FOR FIRST OFFENSE. SECOND OFFENSE WILL RESULT IN LOSS OF TRACK POINTS. A THIRD OFFENSE YOU WILL BE BANNED FROM NEW HOPE DRAGSTRIP FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE RACING SEASON.
BASIC RULES:
1. All basic safety rules outlined in the NHRA and IHRA rule books will be used as a guideline only, a specific list of requirement will be listed under class headings.
2. Any driver caught consuming alcoholic beverages prior to their elimination will be disqualified and banned for the season
3. Any driver participating in any event must have a valid drivers license or learners permit and must be at least the age of 16. Jr. Dragster drivers must be at least age 8.
4. The car in the tower lane always has the right of way. This means the tower lane car exits first.
5. Any vehicle running faster than 8.00 seconds the drivers MUST wear a helmet.
6. I f you are running an aftermarket object forward of the front wheels, under car you MUST put an "X" on your drivers side window in addition to your car number. The object must be stationary.
STAGING:
7. Deep Staging is allowed, however you MUST have it written on all four windows, when auto start is on deep staging is not guaranteed it is your responsibility to get staged.
8. Deep Staging is allowed in all classes except Super Pro.
9. Courtesy Staging will be enforced; this means that you must wait until both cars are prestaged before fully staging. You will get one warning, 2nd warning will result in disqualification.
10. After both cars are prestaged it is solely up to the starter how much time is given for you to stage, the starter will motion you to the line, after he motions you to the line the 1st time that is a warning, if he does it a 2nd time its your responsibility to stage, the 3rd time the last person to stage will be disqualified.
CAR NUMBERS, CLASS, AND DIAL IN TIMES:
11. Your car number, and dial in time must be on the front windshield, Drivers Side Window, and the Back Window.
12. Make sure you write legibly.
13. If you car does not have a Windshield or windows make a display board to show the starter or place number on front and rear of your car.
14. Check your dial in time on the scoreboard. If you stage your car this means you have accepted the dial in, if a mistake is made motion to the starter and we will take the appropriate action.
STAGING LANES:
15. Once last call is made for your class you have 2 minutes to report, if you fail to make the call you will be eliminated from that round of eliminations.
16. As you pull into the lanes for eliminations lanes 1, 2, and 3 will be used. The 2 cars to race will be determined by a chip drawing method. 1st lane drawn will receive lane choice.
17. Once you have been motioned across the yellow lane you may not change your dial and must be race ready.
BYE RUNS:
18. 1ST round bye runs will be determined in the tower by randomly drawing tech card for each class. Every round there after will be determined by best reaction time in that round of eliminations.
19. Bye runs will be held until you use it or lose it.
BURN OUTS:
20. All cars with slicks are allowed to burn thru the lights
21. No treaded tires are allowed in the water box and are not allowed to burn out thru the lights.
22. After burning out thru the lights all cars must back up in a timely fashion and prestage while moving forward
TIME TRIALS:
23. Time trials are from 6pm-8pm, the lanes are open to all cars the entire 2 hours and are limited to a maximum 3 passes unless otherwise stated..
DISQUALIFICATIONS:
24. Unprofessional behavior while competing at New Hope Drag strip will not be tolerated. This includes DRIVERS behavior during on track racing. If your car does not perform properly due to lack of traction, failing of drive train components, or overall lack of running properly you are REQUIRED to abort the run immediately and pull safely off the track surface. Failing to do so will result in disqualification. If you cause damage to track components as a result of inappropriate behavior the action will result in disqualification. Any car that leaves the track surface is disqualified at that point.
25. In the event that you red light or breakout and your opponent is unable to cross the finish line under their own power you will advance to the next round.
26. Once you have prestaged you may not exit your car. This will result in disqualification
27. Spreading substances on the racing surface at anytime such as motor oil, antifreeze, transmission fluid, etc., that requires major track clean up will result in disqualification.
28. Unsportsmanlike conduct or conduct detrimental to the sport will result in disqualification.
29. When you pull in front of the yellow line you must be race ready, you may not change your dial once across the yellow line…
PIT VEHICLES:
30. No person under the age of 16 is allowed to drive these for any reason.
31. Speed limit in the pits is 5mph.
ENTRY FEES:
32. Entry fee should be paid in the class you qualify in. If you run faster or slower you are responsible for entering your car in the correct class prior to the first round of eliminations. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
33. Rain out passes will be issued if the race is rained out, you must obtain the pass before you leave the track.
34. If for any reason you break down during practice you may receive a "broke pass" good for time specified on pass. You must see the Track Manager before the 1st round of eliminations to receive a broke pass. If your entry was by way of a broke pass and your vehicle breaks again we will not issue another broke pass .
35. If you have entered your car as a test car entry you are not allowed to race with any other class unless you have paid the entry fee for that class. Test cars will receive only 3 passes for the test car fee.
BUY BACKS:
36. Buy Backs can be made for 1st ROUND LOSERS ONLY unless otherwise specified.
POINTS SYSTEM:
37. You will receive 1 point for entering and 1 point for each round win prior to being eliminated; if you buy back you WILL receive points for a round win.
38. Points are kept under the DRIVERS NAME not the car number, this allows you to race a different car each week if you wish, but must be the same class.
39. Points cannot transfer classes.
SPECIFIC CLASS RULES:
SUPER PRO: 4.50-7.75
40. All drivers are required to wear long pants, safety jackets, and helmet while racing.
41. A five point safety harness must be worn at all times while racing.
42. Delay boxes, air shifters, and two steps are allowed.
43. Cars running 6.00 and faster must have a working parachute.
44. All cars must have a working tail light.
PRO: 5.50-8.50
45. Cars running 7.49 and faster must have a roll bar or cage and safety harness.
46. All drivers must wear long pants, long sleeves, and helmets.
47. Transbrakes, air shifters, and two steps are allowed.
48. All cars must have a working tail light.
49. No delay boxes, air throttles, delay switches, down track stutters, or any other device to mechanically or electronically control the ET of your car are not allowed.
SPORTSMAN: 7.50-SLOWER
50. You may run Slicks.
51. Drivers must wear seatbelts
52. All drivers must wear long sleeves, long pants, and helmets if you run faster than 8.50.
53. All cars must have working tail light
54. No Delay Boxes, air throttles, delay switches, down track stutters, or any other device used to mechanically or electronically control the ET of you car are not allowed.
APPEARANCE OF CARS:
55. The appearance of your race vehicle must be acceptable.
56. If for any reason any debris comes out of your car such as mud, dirt, tools, etc., you will be warned on the 1st offense on the 2nd you will be disqualified.
57. Drivers of vehicles faster than 8.00 MUST wear a helmet.
THE NEW HOPE DRAGSTRIP STAFF HAS THE RIGHT TO CHANGE OR MODIFY THESE RULES, IN THE EVENT OF A RULE CHANGE YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED AND WILL TAKE EFFECT THE NEXT RACE
